CT Scan

We offers CT scans for advanced testing options

Paws and Claws Medical Center offers some of the most comprehensive diagnostic tools available in the veterinary field here in Miami. From in house diagnostics like X-rays and ultrasound technology to the ability to perform our own laboratory testing, we have you and your pet covered. Our veterinary hospital also offers CT scans for advanced testing options.

When your pet comes in with concerning symptoms or a medical emergency, our veterinarian may request to perform a CT scan to get a closer look at the animal’s bone, muscle or organ. CT scans function similarly to a traditional radiograph, or X-ray, but offer much greater detail. They’re useful for helping our surgeon plan a procedure, giving them a complete view of your pet’s insides. We can also use a CT scan to locate a tumor and determine its spread inside the body. This helps us determine an appropriate treatment plan for your pet so that we don’t miss any malignant growths. One of the most common reasons veterinarians suggest a CT scan is to diagnose nasal disease for pets who have constant nasal discharge.

We anesthetize pets for the procedure

Since we need animals to remain very still for long periods of time during their scan, we generally anesthetize pets for the procedure. As always, we make sure to explain why we think it’s important to perform these tests and obtain consent from owners before moving forward.
