What we do in this building

What this hospital is set up to do

Paws & Claws Medical Center is a hospital, not a menu of buzzwords. We see dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, and small mammals under one roof because the training, the anesthesia, and the imaging are here. Boarding is for existing patients, by appointment, when space is available. We do not claim 24/7 emergency. We do in-hours urgent care, scheduled medicine, surgery, diagnostics, and boarding for our own patients. If that sounds narrower than a corporate homepage, it is. It is also accurate.

Surgery, laparoscopy, and endoscopy

This hospital operates across orthopedic and soft-tissue surgery, minimal-access endoscopy, endoscopic-assisted procedures, and advanced dentistry for dogs, cats, and non-traditional species. Laparoscopic spay, exploratory, and biopsy are available when a smaller incision is the safer plan. BOAS airway surgery, corneal lesions, and third-eyelid repositioning are in scope. Neurosurgery and advanced ophthalmology are not — we refer those. Details and fasting protocols live on the surgery page.

CT imaging

Computed tomography is in this building. Nasal disease, ears, lungs, surgical planning, coelomic questions in exotic patients, and masses that two-view radiographs cannot settle — those are reasons to scan here instead of shipping you across town and losing a day. CT is a tool. We will say when a radiograph or ultrasound is enough. We will say when it is not.

Exotic anesthesia

Birds, reptiles, rabbits, and small mammals do not get a dog protocol with the vaporizer turned down. Species-specific induction, monitoring, and recovery are the job. If we cannot anesthetize that patient safely today, we will not invent a reason to proceed. That is the opposite of a high-volume mill, and it is on purpose.

Dentistry, wellness, pharmacy

Dog and cat dentistry with radiographs when indicated. Rabbit and rodent malocclusion care. Wellness exams and vaccines matched to species and risk, not a laminated one-size list. Online pharmacy refills through OurVet at pacmc.ourvet.com/pet so you are not guessing at a random internet bottle.

In-hours urgent care — not a 24/7 ER

If your pet is sick or injured during open hours, call (786) 361-9344 now. We will tell you to come in, to stabilize at home for a short interval, or to go to an emergency hospital if the problem is beyond what we can staff that hour. After we close, we are closed. Go to a local emergency hospital. We are not a 24/7 ER, and we will not pretend otherwise in the footer in small type. Full detail: Emergency / in-hours urgent care.

Surgery and fasting

Soft tissue surgery, laparoscopy, endoscopy, and species-specific fasting protocols live on the pet surgery page. Dentistry — including endoscopic dentistry for small patients — is on dental services. Small-mammal spay/neuter: call for price (no published dollars).

Community specials and vaccine combos

Community special pricing and vaccine combos are offered while supplies last as a limited-time offer. Call for availability. Prices may vary based on supply and demand costs — call for updated current pricing. Puppy, adult dog, cat, avian, ferret, and rabbit combos, Free Vaccines for Life, and the low-income spay/neuter program live on the specials page.

Boarding — existing patients, by appointment

We board our own patients when space is available. Appointments are required. Dogs: runs, three walks a day, and a bath before going home. Cats: condos. You bring housing, bedding, bowls, and diet food. Wellness care must be current. Chronic-condition pets are welcome. This is not a walk-in kennel. See the boarding page for the rules.

Husbandry we will not ignore

Diagnostics without husbandry are incomplete for exotic patients and often for dogs and cats too. Diet, enclosure, heat, UVB, air quality, and water will come up. You will not be shamed out the door. You will be given a short list. First visit for any species: bring photos, an honest diet, and the actual problem. Hablamos español.

Hours: Mon–Wed 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Thursday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Sunday closed. Saturday is regular open hospital time — medicine, not a reduced schedule in disguise.

After hours: We are not a 24/7 emergency hospital. Sick or injured during open hours? Call (786) 361-9344. After we close, go to a local emergency hospital.
