Who we see
Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, and small mammals. Tell us the species in the form so the schedule is not a surprise. First visits: bring records, diet, and enclosure photos for exotic pets. We will not ignore husbandry when husbandry is the disease. We will also not make you wait on a form if the animal is crashing — that is a phone call, or an ER if we are closed.
Ramon de Armas, DVM, PGCert(EAS), GPCert(EAP), reads these requests with the rest of the hospital, not a call center. AAV, ARAV, and AEMV memberships are why a bird, a rabbit, or a dragon on this form is not treated as a novelty. AAHA is the hospital standard behind the appointment, not a badge we hide after you book.
Common problems that still belong on the phone
Not eating. Labored breathing. Straining. Trauma. Toxin. A bird on the cage bottom. A blocked cat. A rabbit with no droppings. During open hours, call. The form will not be read in time to change the outcome of those cases. After hours, local emergency hospital. Boarding is for existing patients, by appointment. We are not a 24/7 ER.
If you already have a medical record here, say you are an existing client and include the pet name. If you are new, say so — we still want the species and the actual problem, not a marketing category. Preferred date is a preference, not a hold. We will call or email to confirm.
After hours: We are not a 24/7 emergency hospital. Sick or injured during open hours? Call (786) 361-9344. After we close, go to a local emergency hospital.
