Paws and Claws Medical Center provides in-hours urgent care in Miami — not a 24/7 emergency room. Open six days a week, including Saturday 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Sick or injured during open hours: call (786) 361-9344. After we close, go to a local emergency hospital.
Call first during open hours
If your pet is sick or injured while we are open, call (786) 361-9344 now. We will tell you to come in, to stabilize briefly at home, or to go straight to an emergency hospital if the problem is beyond what we can staff that hour. Do not use the contact form for a crashing patient. The form is not read in time.
We are open six days a week for in-hours urgent care. Saturday 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM is real hospital time — medicine, not a reduced schedule in disguise. Sunday we are closed.

What counts as urgent here
Trauma — hit by a car, attacked by another animal, falls, bite wounds. Foreign-object ingestion. Accidental poisoning or toxin exposure. Difficulty breathing. Collapse. A blocked cat. A rabbit who stopped eating or stopped producing droppings. A bird fluffed on the cage bottom, open-beak breathing, or bleeding. Unproductive straining. These are the cases where waiting for a convenient slot is the wrong plan.
Common is not the same as mild. If you are unsure whether it can wait, call during open hours. We would rather triage a phone call than meet a case that waited too long.
We are not a 24/7 emergency hospital
After we close, we are closed. There is no on-call pager on this website because there is no on-call pager. Go to a local emergency hospital. Bring records if you have them. Tell the ER what species you have — birds, rabbits, reptiles, and small mammals are not always accepted everywhere; call ahead when you can.
Boarding is for existing patients, by appointment. Boarding does not turn this hospital into overnight ER coverage. If a boarded patient crashes after hours, the after-hours plan is still a local ER.
